Ambush Marketing, friend or foe?
Bavaria, the beer brewing company, is dealing with some public relations clean up today after a marketing tactic at a World Cup game backfired on them. Bavaria bought more than 30 orange mini dresses for the participants to wear in the seats during the Netherlands – Denmark game. The problem is that FIFA has exclusive rights to in-stadium marketing, and on Tuesday said it had reached a settlement with Bavaria in which all parties agreed to drop any claims and also not to make any further public comments about the case. FIFA said Bavaria had has agreed to fully respect FIFA’s marketing policies through the year 2022.
