Montreal’s Canada Day — fête du Canada in French — would not be Canada Day without its parade, Old Port activities and the customary mega-cake. But every year has a little something different to offer. On July 1st, 2010, Montreal Canada Day organizers promise an assortment of freebie activities perfect for families (and non-families too), from 11 a.m. to midnight. Highlights include:

• acrobatic ski show;
• breakdancing;
• a yoga zone in front of the Montreal Science Centre;

As we look outside today at a grey and gloomy day many of us can relate to wanting to stay inside and get some things done around the office or house. This is a great time for many of us to tackle projects we have been trying to complete or find some hobbies that we have neglected for too long. As the internet and computers have become mainstream many people are beginning to take up hobbies on the computer, such as computer programming or building websites.

For those of us who are interested in building computer games, here is a great new tool for designing great new games. GameQuery is a gaming engine built using the popular jQuery javascript package. The oil crisis in the Gulf won’t be going away anytime soon and as the situation gets worse there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and his name is Darryl Willis. As he states in the video, “I’m Darryl Willis. I oversee BP’s claims process on the Gulf Coast. BP has got to make things right, and that’s why we’re here.” This is BP’s attempt to shift the attention away from Tony Wayward, who was recently blasted for attending a boat race while the disaster in the Gulf continues to spiral out of control.
